OutLEARN! I AM AN ARCHITECT WORKSHOP 2019 #2

“I’ll huff and I’ll puff and I’ll blow the house down!”
In this 3-hour workshop, the familiar story of the Three Little Pigs transforms into a problem for K1 & K2 learners to solve. They learnt to sort facts from ideas, tested their ideas in an experiment, and met a real live architect in order to design a wolf-proof house for the Three Little Pigs.

I like helping the three little pigs build their house, [and] I tried new
things like blowing the hay [in the experiment].

– Valerie Lee Min Rui, 6 years old.

OutLEARN! I AM AN ARCHITECT WORKSHOP 2019 #1

Can you save the Three Little Pigs from the Big Bad Wolf?
In this 3-hour workshop, K1 & K2 learners put on their architect hats and designed their own learning. In the process, they learnt to sort facts from ideas, experimented with different materials, and interviewed a real live architect. Learners are never too young to
solve problems!

It [The workshop] has become an inspiration to my senior teachers and I due to the rich experiences that the children were exposed to.

OutLEARN! PLASTIC & I BOOTCAMP 2019

Plastic is everywhere.
Are we mindless or mindful about it?
At every Bootcamp, we are thankful for the opportunity to sow seeds of curiosity into children for their future. In this 3-days, learners had to evaluate their actions whether to carelessly lay more waste or carefully protect our planet, and finally make better decisions for the environment knowing their impact on the environment.

I enjoyed the activities, especially repurposing our used plastic. Now, we can tell our parents what to do for the environment. We have some ideas and learning issues. We shared our ideas on the board. And we solved the problem.

OutLEARN! BEE CURIOUS BOOTCAMP 2019

Something’s buzzing!
At this 2-day bootcamp, learners got bee-sy learning about the
Bee’s journey from the hive to honey, and identified their roles in the transformation of flowers to fruits. We left struck by the thought that flowers are not just pretty or practical, but also highly fundamental.

My daughter is so excited about everything she learned today! She discovered all about flower parts, bees, plus how to dissect a flower, make beeswax paper and work in a team! She wish the workshop has more days!

OutLEARN! [tHe Spring edition]

The World as we know it is the only home we have.
What have we done for it?
Over 4 workshops at tHe Spring mall’s atrium, learners learnt more about the essentiality of nature, and to take a stand regarding plastic pollution. With real-world problems, learners innovated real solutions to make a change for our Home.

My daughter is truly enjoying the session. Definitely a good exposure for the kids, not only educate them, but to bring confidence.

OutLEARN! MY PLANT DIED! BOOTCAMP 2018 #3

“Ideas come from curiosity.” Walt Disney
20 kids and their fathers paired up to test their many hypotheses and theories about plants. With them, we too learnt much about plants and experienced the depth of their imagination when it comes to problem solving!

It was time well spent with family bonding, hands-on activities, and new knowledge to gain all through problem-solving.

OutLEARN! MY PLANT DIED! BOOTCAMP 2018 #2

“The future belongs to the curious. The ones who are not afraid to try it, explore it, poke at it, question it, and turn it inside out.” Anonymous
The amount of ideas that children can think of when inspired and bouncing off one another in a team reminded parents to empower and involve them more when it comes to solving everyday problems.
Beyond just a bonding session, both parents and children left with new knowledge on plant care and learning-to-learn skills.

After this Bootcamp, we want to learn to find solutions by ourselves by asking parents, teachers and Google.

OutLEARN! MY PLANT DIED! BOOTCAMP 2018 #1

Many parents and educators often wonder how best to encourage our children to think critically and be problem-solvers.
In this Bootcamp, as the children’s natural sense of curiosity was brought forth in their enthusiasm and determination to solve the problem set for them, both parents and facilitators alike were left amazed.

Seeing my daughter solving problems with others from the same peer group, things I have never seen before, gave me a very satisfying feeling. Both of us enjoyed and had lots of fun together. Enhancing parent bonding efforts to the maximum!
